Features
Description
The Dodge Challenger SRT Demon was engineered with one clear purpose: dominate the drag strip. Built as a limited-production, street-legal drag car, the Demon pushed factory muscle-car performance to levels rarely seen in production vehicles.
Performance
At its core is a heavily modified 6.2-liter supercharged HEMI V8 producing:
-
626 kW (840 hp) on 100+ octane race fuel
-
770 lb-ft (1,044 Nm) of torque
-
0–100 km/h in approximately 2.3 seconds
-
Quarter-mile in 9.65 seconds (NHRA certified)
-
Top speed around 270 km/h
It uses an 8-speed automatic transmission tuned specifically for drag racing.
Drag-Focused Engineering
The Demon introduced unique drag-specific technology:
-
TransBrake system for race launches
-
Torque Reserve for optimized boost at launch
-
Line Lock for burnout preparation
-
After-Run Chiller to cool the supercharger
-
Factory-fitted drag radials
It was the first production car capable of lifting the front wheels off the ground under hard acceleration.
Design
The Demon stands out with:
-
Widebody fender flares
-
Massive hood scoop (Air-Grabber)
-
Minimal front passenger and rear seating (optional lightweight setup)
-
Demon-specific badging
-
18-inch drag wheels
Every element was designed to maximize straight-line performance.
Interior
The interior was intentionally stripped down to reduce weight:
-
Driver seat standard (passenger and rear seats optional at extra cost)
-
Performance pages with drag telemetry
-
SRT performance steering wheel
-
Minimalist trim for weight reduction
Despite its focus, it retained basic comfort and infotainment systems.
Production & Legacy
Only 3,300 units were produced (primarily for the U.S. market), making it highly collectible. The Challenger SRT Demon remains one of the most extreme factory muscle cars ever built.
